The Sprinter is the first van to be equipped as standard with Crosswind Assist
Crosswind Assist supports the driver in strong, gusty side winds through automatic brake interventions in order to help the vehicle stay in lane. It recognises strong gusts of side wind in good time making use of the ADAPTIVE ESP® driving dynamics control system sensors. At speeds over 80 km/h it corrects the vehicle's course by means of automatic braking interventions at the wheels on the side of the vehicle facing the wind. This way, Crosswind Assist can help forestall any hasty inappropriate reactions, and enhance the driver's feeling of safety.
Crosswind Assist is available for the panel van with a GVW of 3.5 t and 3.88 t as well as for body lengths standard, long and extra-long – with standard and high roof. It is not available for the Sprinter with a GVW of 5 t.
