The Vito's economy and longevity is based on two 4-cylinder diesel engines with common rail direct injection and turbocharging. The engines with 1598 cc and 2143 cc are available in two and three output levels respectively. Depending on the engine chosen, front-wheel, rear-wheel and all-wheel drive are available. With the 120 kW variant and the optional BlueEFFICIENCY package, consumption of 5.7 l/100 km is possible.
The most powerful engine, with 140 kW output, uses some 2.5 l/100 km less at the same torque than a vehicle with the same engine size from the preceding series. Thanks to BlueTEC technology, it meets the stringent Euro 6 emissions standard ahead of it becoming compulsory. The technology uses selective catalytic reduction to convert damaging nitrogen oxides in the exhaust gas into water and nitrogen.
