The driver and passengers enjoy exemplary protection in the Vito. The intelligently designed bodywork has extended deformation zones at the front and rear, which can absorb the impact force in an accident across a large surface area. The frame structure of the substructure, which consists of four longitudinal and four cross members, conducts the force resulting from a crash along various load pathways. This ensures that the passenger compartment, made from high-strength steel alloys, is given exemplary protection.
The very strong bodyshell also contributes to the high torsional strength of the Vito.
When designing the Vito, a great deal of thought was also given to the safety of other road users: the front section is designed in such a way as to take into account pedestrian protection. Thanks to a generously-sized deformation zone between the engine cover and the components beneath it, the stresses that could arise in an accident are reduced.
